| Got My Toothpaste
Got my toothpaste, got my brush, I won't hurry, I won't rush. Making sure my teeth are clean, Front and back and in between. When I brush for quite a while, I will have a happy smile! Brush Your Teeth Brush your teeth, Brush you teeth, Give your teeth a treat. Brush up and down and all around, To keep them clean and neat! Brush them once, Brush them twice, Brush three times a day. Brush up and down and all around, Keep cavities away! Little Tommy Toothbrush Tune: "Eensy, Weensy Spider" Little Tommy Toothbrush Had a big job to do. He spread himself with toothpaste And jumped up on a tooth. He scrubbed and scrubbed the germs away To prevent tooth decay. Then Little Tommy Toothbrush Jumped down and said, "Hooray!" My Toothbrush I have a little toothbrush. I hold it very tight. I brush my teeth each morning, and then again at night. I go brush, brush, brush And rinse, rinse, rinse, And then when they're all clean I will blow you a kiss. My Wobbly Tooth Once I had a wobbly tooth That wobbled to and fro, Every time I ate my toast I thought the tooth would go. But then I ate a candy, A sticky toffee roll, Now where my wobbly tooth was There's nothing but a hole! |
| Color/Number Word Match: Cut out several large toothpaste tubes from tagboard. Color each tube with a different color or write on number on each. Write the color or number words on another set of tubes. Children match color to the color word or the number to the number word. This can also be done with upper and lowercase letters using teeth cut-outs instead of toothpaste tubes. Class Book - "How to Pull a Tooth" Have each student draw a picture of themself pulling their tooth and write about the best way to pull a tooth. Combine these to make a class book. Order by Size: Cut out five to ten different size teeth from tagboard. Have the students put them in order from large to small, small to large, etc. This makes a good center activity. Favorite Toothpaste Graph: Each child has the opportunity to sample a very small amount of 3 different types of toothpaste (we used Original Crest, Aquafresh, and Arm & Hammer). After filling out a data form with their opinions, we used self-stick teeth notepad paper to graph the results. Lost Teeth Graph: Using a data sheet, color in 1 tooth for each tooth you have lost. Compile all the information on a class graph. Who has lost the most, fewest? How many teeth have we lost all together? Apple Smiles: Use 2 wedges of apples for lips, peanut butter for "gums," and miniature marshmellows for teeth! Yum! Yum! Toothbrush Painting: Collect some old toothbrushes and let the children paint a picture using the toothbrushes as paintbrushes. Smiling Teeth: Cut out a 6" x 4" pair of smiling lips. Snip off little bits of white paper for teeth. Glue the teeth to the lips. You might want to leave some gaps for those missing teeth. Eggsperiments: Discuss how a tooth's enamel surface is similar to an egg shell. Hardboil two eggs. Place one in Coke and one in grape juice. Soak overnight or for several days. Then use toothpaste and toothbrush to try to clean the shells' discoloration. Then soak a hardboiled egg in vinegar for 3-5 days. The vinegar will eat away the eggshell, just as acidic foods eat away the enamel on our teeth if we don't brush. "Guess the Smile" Class Book: Take each child's picture (with a big smile) and laminate it on a piece of paper. Place another piece of paper over each picture with a hole cut out only exposing the child's smile. Use the caption - Can you guess who is smiling? Turn the page to find out! Bind the pages together to make a super-cute class book! |
